Mechanical watches are designed to be worn, but storage conditions still matter. In Gulf homes, rapid changes between outdoor heat and heavily air-conditioned interiors can create more concern than the average daily temperature alone.

Aim for stability

Keep watches away from direct sun, bathrooms, kitchens and direct AC discharge. Allow a watch exposed to outdoor heat to return gradually to room conditions before placing it in a closed cabinet.

Use winding selectively

Follow the movement manufacturer’s guidance for turns per day and direction. Watches kept for long periods may be better stored at rest and wound when needed; service condition matters more than continuous motion.

Choose contact materials carefully

Cushions should support the bracelet without forcing the clasp. Soft, clean, non-abrasive contact surfaces and separation between pieces help reduce avoidable marks.

Be precise about security

Fingerprint access and concealed locks can control everyday access, but they are not “safe-grade” unless the complete enclosure has a documented independent rating. Keep insurance-driven or exceptionally valuable pieces in appropriately certified storage.
