The Heirloom Storage Trunk is a coffee table with a hold. At 110 x 56 x 50 cm it takes the centre of a living room as a low table, and opens onto a deep lined compartment for blankets, games, cushions and the seasonal things that otherwise fill a cupboard.

It is made for the room where storage has to earn its floor space twice. The lid is stayed, so it stays open while a hand is inside; side handles let two people move it without dragging; the case is finished on all four sides for a room where nothing sits against a wall.

Antique gold copper wire is drawn over a solid timber frame, banded and cornered in brass-tone metal in the manner of a steamer trunk. It is a storage trunk built to be looked at from the sofa — luggage-grade construction doing the work of living-room furniture.
