The Coquette is a dressing table for a bedroom with no wall left. At 60 cm wide it takes the space of a nightstand, yet the lift-top lid opens onto a mirror and a fitted tray, and the drawers below hold brushes, palettes and the jewellery worn that week.

It is made for the apartment, the guest room and the second home — anywhere a full mirrored dressing table would swallow the floor. On castors it rolls to the window for daylight and back against the wall when the room is needed for something else.

Rose toile is drawn in copper wire across every face and bound in leather at the edge, with brass-tone corners and trunk latches set by hand. Closed, it is a standing trunk; open, it is a vanity table. It is the compact end of luxury bedroom furniture, built to trunk standards rather than to flat-pack ones.

The case is drawn in rose toile copper wire over a solid timber frame, bound in leather and capped in brass-tone corners. The lid is stayed so the mirror holds its angle, and the castors are set into the base rather than screwed beneath it. It is made to be kept, and to pass on as an heirloom.
